Columbia Film Student Lands Prestigious Internship

Columbia CTVA student Ben Dawson was selected for the prestigious Television Academy Foundation Internship Program. He is one of just 12 students chosen by Television Academy members from across the country for the 2022 fall program. The Foundation’s annual Internship Program provides eight-week paid internships at top Hollywood studios and production companies to college students nationwide.
Dawson is currently an editing intern at Ping Pong Productions in Los Angeles, California, through the Foundation’s program and will be there until late December. Ping Pong Productions is an award-winning production company known for producing television content such as Expedition Unknown, Dr. Pimple Popper, and Lost in the Wild. Dawson is participating in the internship while attending Semester in LA (SiLA), which worked with him on obtaining the internship
Dawson’s passion for editing drives him to work hard, and he credits his Wheeling High School media technology teacher, Kyle Reinhart, for inspiring him to pursue a career in editing. “Mr. Reinhart told me, ‘I’m glad you have the passion for editing because you sure have the talent for it.’ And I’ve been carrying those words with me throughout my education,” says Dawson. “Being selected for the Television Academy Foundation’s internship is surreal. I feel the Academy members who selected me noticed something worthwhile in my work; and with a little guidance and networking at the Academy, I can grow into a big future. I am so thankful for this.”
