Photographers Present the Personal Through the Historical in ‘Traversing the Past’
Adam Golfer. Settlers Planting Trees on Tu'bshevat, 2012.On Thursday, January 18 the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP) opened . The show, running until April 1, presents work from three artists exploring personal, familial stories of violence, displacement or political turmoil.
In from MoCP Deputy Director and Chief Curator Karen Irvine which accompanies the show, Irvine writes “Each of the three artists in this exhibition – , , and – looks at their life experiences, and the ways their sense of identity is linked, both directly and indirectly, to state-sponsored violence.”
Traversing the Past examines family stories and personal histories through historic events, and illuminates “how we develop our own sense of history,” says Irvine.
The show is open through April 1 and includes a with Diana Matar on Wednesday, January 24.
