Fall 2026 Course Schedule
Semester in LA is entering a thrilling new chapter. As the entertainment industry redefines itself-- expanding across streaming, digital, and global platforms--SiLA is growing alongside it. This is a moment of transformation, not just for Hollywood, but for the way stories are made and careers are built.
We’re expecting some exciting updates for Fall 2026, including a potential move to the historic Sunset Gower Studios, less than a mile from our current home at Sunset Las Palmas. This would place SiLA at the center of a working Hollywood backlot—where iconic series and films have been created for generations. While the move isn’t finalized, momentum is building, and the possibilities ahead reflect our continued growth, our world-class faculty, and the energy surrounding SiLA right now.
What remains constant is our mission: to help you bridge the gap between Columbia and the industry itself. SiLA courses are open to students from all disciplines—film, theatre, design, music, business, animation, marketing, and beyond. You don’t need to arrive as a professional; you come ready to learn, connect, and grow. Every class is designed to help you translate your education into real experience, relationships, and next steps toward your creative career.
Required Courses (12 Credits)
COLL 232 – LA Internship (3 Credits)
This is the cornerstone of your SiLA experience. You’ll gain professional experience interning with a Los Angeles company in your field of interest, learning how collaboration, creativity, and professionalism intersect in the real world. Alongside your internship, you’ll complete reflective assignments and a “Day in the Life” video that captures your professional growth.
MEDI 335 – Los Angeles Career Development (3 Credits)
This course helps you turn your internship into long-term opportunity. You’ll develop essential tools for self-presentation, networking, and goal-setting, while examining your strengths and defining your career path. Through interactive workshops and personal reflection, you’ll learn how to take what you’ve gained in Los Angeles and use it to launch what comes next.
CINE 362 – Los Angeles Speakers Series (3 Credits)
Every week, you’ll meet leaders from across the entertainment and creative industries—producers, writers, executives, casting directors, and more—who share their insights on what it takes to succeed in Los Angeles. These candid conversations help you understand how the industry actually works and how people find their way in. It’s an inspiring, unforgettable part of every SiLA semester.

MEDI 382A – Advanced Topics in Media Studies: TBD (3 Credits)
Our rotating Advanced Topics course changes each semester to reflect the evolving creative landscape of Los Angeles. The Fall 2026 course will be announced soon, with details on an innovative class designed to give you fresh insight into today’s entertainment industry and its emerging career opportunities. Stay tuned—this new course will continue our tradition of pairing academic depth with real-world application and industry mentorship.
