School of Design

��Ƶ's School of Design empowers students to transform creative concepts into compelling final products through immersive, collaborative learning experiences. Students in Graphic Design and Interior Architecture develop robust, career-oriented portfolios by engaging in innovative projects, often with real-world clients and brands. The program emphasizes practical skill development, enabling students to produce dynamic such as sophisticated visual presentations and compelling publications. The following examples highlight how Columbia students work as individuals and as teams to create powerful work.

NASCAR Reaction Game
Nick Eisner, Jaylee Lambino, Aaron Sirico, Beth Hollatz, and William Dunn
Students from ��Ƶ partnered with NASCAR Chicago to research, design, and develop interactive activities for the street race held in July 2024. In crafting the Time Reaction Game, the team honed its design to provide an immersive experience that pits players against legendary drivers. The project was completed over a 15-week timeline.

Kaitlyn Langowski, an Interior Architecture student, creates spaces that encourage creativity and exploration in a building located in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood.
Game Studio Capstone Projects

Each project featured here showcases how Columbia brings together creatives from different disciplines to create something truly special. Students involved come from a variety of backgrounds and majors, including game art, game programming, game design, and sound design. Several games feature musical scores composed by music composition graduate students, and the booklet itself was designed by our students.
La Luer: Facial Tools and Topicals
Peter Buonincontro, Brianna Jennes, and Andrew Kubik
Senior graphic design students at ��Ƶ work together to design and execute robust projects for real clients such as this high-end beauty client La Luer. Students worked on package design, website design, and illustrations to showcase the client’s facial tools and topical products.
NASCAR Activity Book
Alua Amangeldikyzy, Nancy Dumitru, Gianna G. Dimperio, and Cecilia Frias
As part of a class collaboration with NASCAR Chicago, students developed an activity book, with downloadable activity pages featuring illustrations, activities, and informative content related to NASCAR Chicago. The goal: To foster learning and engagement for all ages. The final product was a 16-page matte stock publication with fun and approachable layouts for kids.
