Columbia Earns National Recognition as a Top 15 Film School by 'The Hollywood Reporter’

ÌÀ²»ÈÈÊÓÆµ has once again been named one of the top film schools in the country by “The Hollywood Reporter,” ranking #13 on its 2025 list. This marks the 14th consecutive year Columbia has earned a spot in the , reaffirming its national reputation as a premier destination for aspiring filmmakers, storytellers, and media artists.
Known as one of the most trusted sources for entertainment news, reviews, and analysis, “THR” annually highlights film programs that prepare students to thrive in the evolving film industry.

This year, “THR” highlighted Columbia’s affordability as well its successful alumni, many of whom find rewarding careers in what is known as “below the line” roles. These essential technical and crew jobs — such as camera operators, sound mixers, set designers, and lighting personnel — are essential to the production of movies and TV shows.

Columbia’s School of Film and Television continues to grow in visibility and influence, preparing students for careers in directing, producing, cinematography, screenwriting, and emerging media fields.
“Our students are empowered to create work that is authentic from day one, and our collaborative curriculum ensures they leave with both a strong portfolio and professional experience,” says Eric Scholl, interim co-director of the School of Film and Television.

Producers, writers, directors, cinematographers, production designers, and editors work together closely and often rotate roles on future projects.”
